It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl in Beyblade fanfictions must be in want of a boyfriend. Or their writers are at least. It's not very uncommon, in fact it's probably half the reason why fanfiction exists, still, it's quite bothersome to see it happen over and over. I don't know what I can do to remedify it or if I'm being a hypocrite by writing this, but I hope it'll be worth a read at least.

Most OCs, that is Original Characters, exists in fanfiction purely to get together with whoever the author considers the "hunk" or in some cases "hunks" of whatever fandom he or she is writing in. Sometimes they appear as long lost cousins, forgotten siblings or childhood friends that were supposed to be long dead.

Either way most have in common that they enter the story with some sort of connection to the "hunk" from the fandom. Often this girl gets kidnapped or is used by the "evil" guys, who usually turn out to be whoever the author does not find to be; a attractive Jim, Goki, Carlos, Rick, Steve, Crusher etc. Of course there are stories that do some of these things and get away with it.

Usually there's a strong plot and the OC isn't randomly dropped into the story, and if she is, she and the rest of the cast are made interesting enough to make the story worth reading. However often the OC is a self-insert, that is, an image of how the author would like to be, they might not even look remotely similar as it's often the personality traits that the author wants to have.

Not to say that the OC isn't often attractive in some way or another although this is very general, most people are attractive one way or another , but a lot seem to be outspoken and daring, qualities I think a lot of girls and women wish they had more of. My first point is this; there is nothing, and I do mean nothing , wrong with writing stories of this kind.

Writing, whether it's fandom or original, is done for someone's personal pleasure first and foremost and so I can't say that someone can't write a story where they place themselves in the middle and turn the character into how they wish they were. What I can say however is that I, personally, do not like to read these stories. I don't mind OCs, but they, along with the characters from the fandom, have to be organic and natural. What do I mean by this?

First of it might sometimes be easier to introduce an OC by way of accident, not necessarily falling down the stairs and being catched by the "hunk", in fact it might be best not to let the OC meet the hunk straight off. Instead perhaps she meets Bryan out at town one night, goes home with him and when she's trying to find the bathroom the next day; BAM!

She runs into Tala. But hey, that does happen in real life. It's also possible to make the OC a new employee at a coffee house the "hunk" goes to a lot, or one of his friends does and so forth.

And when the OC has been introduced it might be better to establish her relationship with the others and give her some firm footing with the "gang" be it the White Tigers, the Bladebreakers or the All Starz before throwing her at the "hunk". Also note; she does not necessarily have to dislike the "hunk". Some might be wary when meeting Kai as opposed to hating or disliking him. Beywiki will definitely help narrow these down.
