Sport relief why
Here are just a few examples of the many issues Sport Relief cash is helping to tackle. See what an incredible difference you can make when you rise to the challenge. There are up to million children struggling to survive on city streets world-wide and around million who have to work to survive. These children live dangerous and very difficult lives — living in grinding poverty with no one to care for them or working in extremely dangerous conditions to scrape a living.
Vitally, for both street and working children, your money can provide them with the education they desperately need to escape the poverty they face. With the right support from Sport Relief funded projects, these children have the chance of a much brighter future. A child in Africa dies from malaria every 45 seconds. That's over , lives lost a year - even though it is both preventable and treatable.
You can order a free fundraising pack online that includes materials to start your own fundraiser with the proceeds going to the charity. You are encouraged to organise your own sport-themed to raise money for the cause and promote personal wellness.
The Sport Relief website also lists teams you can donate to. Every year BBC 1 hosts a show that brings together famous comedians, actors and celebrities who entertain the nation and encourage people to make generous donations to improve the lives of the poorest around the world. Why are Steves around the UK being chased down by a blonde assassin? Mother of God! Unlike professional golf tournaments, the loser will be subjected to a personal forfeit.
The popular comedy quiz show returns with a Sport Relief twist for this special one-off. How obscure and interesting can our guests be when answering sport-related questions to secure the points?
The teams will battle it out to take home the victory, but not before they take part in the Celebrity Squares round and successfully guess a mystery guest.
Two teams of celebrity players and sporting legends came together last summer to battle it out in the first ever All-Star Netball for Sport Relief. Carrying out a childhood dream of lifting a sporting trophy, huge netball fan and comedy legend Jennifer Saunders captained one of the all-star teams. These are only some of the highlights as famous faces come together for sketches and live moments which see them being pushed out of their comfort zones to help raise money to tackle issues such as mental health stigma, domestic abuse, homelessness and child poverty, both in the UK and around the world.
