How long do astra blades last

I'm using a new blade about every four shaves or so. I flip the razor while shaving and then disassemble the razor and flip the blade over after two shaves. I like the blade so be sharp. Is this about the average life expectancy? Yossarian04 , Jul 25, RaZorBurn and Bama Samurai like this. Last edited: Jul 25, Bama Samurai , Jul 25, RaZorBurn and BigMark83 like this.

It kind of like asking "How many licks does it take, to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop"? It all depends on many factors. Two of the most important being 1. Beard density and coarseness. So, between I could get , with them, when I DE shaved, and really concentrated. But that wasn't much fun. DaltonGang , Jul 25, We have no answer. You have to ask your face. It will tell you when the blade is tugging and pulling.

Listen to your face. It is telling you it is time to change the blade. Again, no one here has the answer. If they say they do, they really don't. Give it a try and report back. I have gotten 30 shaves out of a Personna Super. Before that I had gotten 19 out of a Shark. I can say this. Buy on Amazon. I personally did not like the Astra Superior Platinum and do not plan to try it again for personal use.

I may, however, try to push it later for testing to see how many shaves it takes to dull. The Astra Superior Platinum Blade is a perfect example why every shaver especially starting out should try as many blades as they can.

Be sure to leave your overall rating, the community appreciates your vote! Having seen many glowing reviews for this blade, including this one on refinedshave.

The blade pulled excessively with my Gillette New, and left my face feeling raw for the rest of the day. Bad batch? My bears heavy so I only get 2 good shaves per blade. If I take shortcuts in prep and soap, then unpleasantness increases. I prefer Kai or Feather blades, but the Astra price point sucked me in for a brick of these blades.

Will not buy the Astras again. Astra Superior Platinum Razor Blades. Astra is actually a subsidiary of Gillette as they were acquired by Gillette a few decades ago. Anyway, these blades are manufactured in Russia. They are made from stainless steel and fit any standard safety razor. One other thing to note is that these blades are platinum coated. Hence where they get the name Astra Superior Platinum. Regardless of what quantity you buy though, they all come packaged the same. So if you buy an order of 50, you will actually be getting 10 cartons with 5 blades in each carton.

Each blade inside the box is individually wrapped in wax paper to help protect it from the elements as well as make it safer to handle. The Astra Superior Platinum double edge razor blades are one of the sharpest smooth blades out there.

Or to put it another way, one of the smoothest sharp blades. Either way you want to look at it, these blades are amazing at being sharp enough to deliver an amazingly close shave while being smooth enough to do it without causing a lot of irritation.

Most blades are either sharp and not smooth or smooth and not sharp. These blades do a great job at both. These might not be as sharp as a Feather or as smooth as a Shark or Derby, but they are well above average in both categories.
